The University provides a range of services to support safety on campusÌýbut we rely on the whole campus community to work together to support safety on campus.

    AÌýfree after-hours shuttle bus serviceÌýis available throughout the academic year to take students and staff up to 2.5 km from the North Terrace campus pastÌýthe following areas:

    • North Adelaide andÌýthe residential colleges
    • City East andÌýRose Park
    • City West and The Village

    Please note:

    • The bus departs campus at 5.30pm, 7.00pm, 8.30pm, 10.00pm and 11.30pm.ÌýPlease meet at the bus zone 10 minutes ahead of departure.

    • A University ID card isÌýrequired to use the service.
    • Scheduled times and routes may vary due to traffic conditions, the number of passengers and security priorities.Ìý
    After-hours security escort (by vehicle)

    An after-hours security escort service is available outside of the shuttle bus operating hours. The security escort service will take you up to 2.5 km from the North Terrace campus by van (maximum of 7 passengers).     After hours security escort (walking escort)

    At times, you may feel as though you need an escort from your building to the security office, or to another location on campus (or adjacent the campus boundary)*. Please call the security office onÌý8313 5990 or from one of the emergency phonesÌýto arrange. Calling ahead is recommended to ensure that a security officer is available.Ìý

    *While this service may be used at your discretion, please be aware this is not intended to be an on-going personal service.

  • Emergency phones on campus

    Emergency telephones are strategically placed throughout the campuses. These telephones automaticaly connect you to Security and can be identified by their blue and white chequeredÌýbandÌýand red 'emergency phone' label. To use the phone simply press the buttonÌý- no money or dialling is necessary.

  • Lost and stolen property

    To claim or report lost property, visit the Security Office onÌýyour campus or call 8313 5990.

    Lost property can be collected from the Security Office between 6.00 am and 6.00 pm, Monday to Friday. You’ll need to show proof of identity and you may also need to provide proof of ownership of the item.

    The Security OfficeÌýkeeps lost property for up to 30 days.ÌýAny unclaimed property is donated to charity.

    Report all theft to Security immediately on 8313 5990.

  • Reporting incidents on campus

    It’s important that all incidents and crimes be reported quickly to enable the University to take action. Reported incidents are formally recorded and investigated, and any information will be treated with the strictest confidence.

    Incidents can include:

    • suspected or actual acts of violence
    • suspicious or threatening behaviour
    • disorderly or disruptive conduct
    • theft, loss or damage to personal or university property
    • emergency situations such as fire or flood
    • chemical spills
    • accidents or bodily injury
    • unauthorised access and alarm activation.

    Reports from students can be made direct to University Security, via Student Life Counselling Support, or anonymously using the online Silent Witness incident reporting form. If you wish to have a confidential discussion before making a report, support is available from ÌýorÌý.

    Reports from staff can be made direct to University Security, through the HR Sexual Harassment Advisers, or anonymously using the online Silent Witness incident reporting form.

  • Reporting crimes to police

    If you have experienced a crime either on or off University campus, or find yourself in a life-threatening emergency you can report it immediately by phoning 000 and asking for police.

    If you are on campus, University Security can assist you in making the report.

    For indecent assault or rapeÌýyou can contactÌýÌýfor immediate support 24/7.

    All reports of crime are treated as confidential and victims of crime will be provided with appropriate assistance and professional advice as necessary.

  • Car and bike security

    University Security keeps a majority of car and bike parks under CCTV observation, but responsibility for the security of bikes, vehicles and their contents rests with the owners.

    Keep yourself and your vehicle safe at night:

    • Park in well-lit, heavily populated areas
    • Trust your instincts, if something doesn't feel right, find another place to park
    • If you intend to stay at the University late at night, arrange a Security Escort to walk you to your bike or vehicle
    • Carry a mobile phone or take note of emergency phones near where you have parked in case you need to use them
    • Do not leave valuable items in your car
    • Always roll up windows and lock doors when leaving your vehicle.

    To protect your bicycle and reduce the likelihood of it being stolen:

    • Use a D-Lock and park in a secure bike cage
    • Lock both wheels and the frame to a bike rack
    • Do not leave bicycles on campus grounds overnight
    • Get your bike engraved by SAPOLÌýto help track it down if it gets stolen
    • Keep a photo of your bike and a copy of the bike's serial number to aid in identification and recovery if it gets stolen.
