For our final Make History Speaker Series event for the year, we welcome distinguished Australian Indigenous anthropologist, geographer and activist, Professor Marcia Langton AO to deliver her keynote speech.

Professor Langton is a proud Yiman and Bidjara woman from Central Queensland. In 1993 she was made a member of the Order of Australia in recognition of her work in anthropology and the advocacy of Aboriginal rights. Since 2000, she has held the Foundation Chair of Australian Indigenous Studies at the University of Melbourne, and in 2016, she was honoured as a Redmond Barry Distinguished Professor. In 2017 Professor Langton was appointed as the first Associate Provos at The University of Melbourne.

She is one of Australia’s most prominent policy advisors and public intellectuals. Professor Langton was a crucial figure in the development of the Indigenous Voice to Parliament. She was Co-chair of the Voice Co-Design Senior Advisory Group with Professor Tom Calma during the Morrison government. She is a co-host of the podcast, The Deep End with Marcia Langton and Aaron Corn, with whom she also recently co-authored the book, Law: The Way of the Ancestors.
